About Hannah
At Cherrywood Tutoring, I believe in a holistic approach to education that goes far beyond traditional teaching methods. With a background in Neuroscience and over 1,500 hours of tutoring experience, my work is focused on empowering students not only to master academic content but to develop the skills and strategies that lead to long-term success.
My educational journey began right here in East Austin at Maplewood Elementary, where I first discovered my passion for learning. This passion led me to earn a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience, with a minor in Military Studies, from Baylor University. During my time at Baylor, I was honored to receive an ROTC Army scholarship, and I continue to serve part-time in the U.S. Army Signal Corps Reserves in Dallas, TX.
What truly drives me is my commitment to understanding how students learn, grow, and thrive. Through my studies in Neuroscience, I’ve gained a deep understanding of cognitive development and the neurological processes that impact learning. This knowledge has shaped my tutoring philosophy, allowing me to create individualized, multi-sensory learning experiences tailored to each student's needs.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked with students of all ages, focusing on a variety of subjects including math, reading, executive functioning, and college preparation.
What I’ve found to be just as important as academic content is the development of executive functioning skills, such as organization, time management, and goal setting. I specialize in helping students with diverse learning styles, including those with learning differences, navigate these challenges. My focus on executive functioning is integral to my approach, as I work with students to build the skills necessary to become independent and strategic learners.
My commitment to educational advocacy extends beyond direct tutoring. I am deeply invested in continuous learning, consistently researching the latest developments in learning strategies, neuroscience, and new educational laws that may affect my students. Staying up to date with both cutting-edge teaching methodologies and evolving laws is critical to my approach. This allows me to provide the most current and effective support to students, empowering them with the tools and strategies they need to thrive not just in school, but in life.
I understand that navigating the educational landscape can be overwhelming for parents, especially when it comes to advocating for their child’s needs. As a proud member of COPAA (Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates), I work closely with families to help them understand their rights and effectively navigate the often complex world of educational support and advocacy. Whether it’s advocating for a 504 plan, IEP, or other support services, I’m here to help guide parents through the process and ensure their child receives the accommodations they need to succeed.
When I’m not tutoring, I enjoy playing the piano, spending time with my big dog Frankie, and enjoying moments with my friends and family. This year is especially exciting as I prepare to marry my high school sweetheart, Nathan!
Education isn’t just a profession for me—it’s my calling. I’m excited to partner with you and your student to guide them on their unique learning journey.

"I love tutoring so much! Hannah has helped me so much through the school year and through the summer. Executive functioning has helped me be able to manage my time and assignments, and give me tools to succeed this upcoming school year. Math hasn’t been one of my strong suits, but with the help of tutoring I feel ready to roll this year!
Hannah is one of my favorite people! I love what she's been able to help me accomplish and assist me through learning new curriculum."
